Set on the old Middleton Estate in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside. The National Botanic garden is a blend of the modern and historic with an inspiring range of themed gardens, the World’s largest single span glasshouse, National nature reserve all set in a Regency landscape make for a great day out.
The 3,500 sq. metre Great Glasshouse has the largest collection of Mediterranean plants in the Northern Hemisphere with endangered plants from six areas of the World, has ecology, survival and sensory trails.
The double walled garden spread over three acres has three quadrants showing evolution of flowering plants. Q4 is a modern kitchen garden; its produce used in the Season’s restaurant.
The Apothecary’s Garden is themed on the systems of the body and is near the Edwardian pharmacy packed full of medicinal memorabilia. There is a Japanese, gold medal and best of show garden from the Chelsea Flower Show. Additionally, there is the Bee Garden with large viewing windows; Growing the Feature Garden with ideas for garden layout, potager and raised beds; Butterfly Garden with exotic butterflies; Ice House; Boulder Garden; Conservation area and Garden lakes; Wallace Garden and much more.
