Monthly Meetings

Members Monthly Meetings

For a number of years Usk u3a has organised a meeting once a month to which all members are invited, and which is publicised in advance. The programme includes a speaker talking about their specialist subject, followed by a chance to review the talk. We then move on to u3a notices & discussions which allows members to communicate with each other and also with committee members who are present. Social time, accompanied by tea and biscuits, brings the meeting to an end.

Usually held in Llangybi Village Hall (pre-Covid) on the last Friday of the month at 2pm, each meeting is normally hosted by one of the interest groups. Whilst we have been unable to meet in person due to Covid19, a decision was taken to maintain the regular meeting at its usual time but operating through Zoom. This has been a learning experience for all of us, but we’ve had some fun along the way.  We’ve had to make our own cuppa, but we have also had some very interesting speakers. Here are some from 2021 alone:-

January – Bedrooms Banquets and Balls
February – The Wonderful World of Glass
March – Jane Austen and the Austen Family
April – Rosslyn Chapel tour
May – Butlins Holiday Camps – theRise and Fall of an Empire
June – My Ancestors’ Professions in the British Raj
